Background

Dr. Deborah Kopansky-Giles, BPHE, DC, FCCS, FICC, MSc, is a Professor at CMCC, Department of Research and an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. She is actively engaged in collaborative, primary care health service delivery research (locally and internationally) with a focused area related to integrative models of health care, competency-based education, and interprofessional education. Deborah sits on the Research Committee of World Spine Care and the secretariat of the Global Spine Care Initiative. She is an Executive Committee member of the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health International Coordinating Council, sits on the WHO Health Workforce Education Hub and is a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre on Family Medicine and Primary Care at the University of Toronto. She has been actively involved in WHO work on Integrated, People-Centred Care, Healthy Ageing and Global Health Workforce programs over the past 15 years. For 20 years, Deborah has been on staff at the Unity Health Toronto (St. Michael’s Hospital) in the Department of Family & Community Medicine. She has been a board member for the OCA, the CCA and represented Canada as a WFC Executive Council member for 15 years.
