Preparing for your Doctor of Chiropractic Admissions Interview

The Admissions Interview is a video-based interview during which you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge, judgement, and reasoning skills in preparation for your education and career in the chiropractic profession.

Updated as of February 27th, 2026 @ 10:39 AM

The following professional competencies have been identified for chiropractic students at CMCC:

Communication Collaboration Equity Ethics
Problem Solving Professionalism Resilience Self-Awareness

To prepare for the interview questions, it is encouraged that you reflect upon these competencies within what you understand to be the daily professional life of a chiropractor and consider the extent to which each competency factors into professional success. A strong interview response will not only provide details about the strategy, but also will clearly demonstrate your reasoning, as well as your understanding of potential obstacles, barriers, and consequences you may encounter.

Please consider seeking out assistance of your university career centre to provide you with coaching and guidance in preparing for the interview. Remember that you will only have a set amount of time to respond to the questions, therefore, we strongly encourage you to practice giving responses that are not only specific and concise but also provide the best possible examples of your potential as a chiropractic student.

We also encourage you to consider your attire and surroundings for the interview. Even though you are interviewing on video from a comfortable and familiar location, you are seeking admission to a professional program, so please keep that in mind.

Structured Behavioral Questions with Strategy Probes

What it is: A behavioral interview question and targeted follow-ups that explicitly asks for strategy and decision rationale, not just actions.

Case/Scenario Questions

What it is: You are presented with a realistic problem and are asked to think aloud, propose a plan, and justify choices.

Why: Directly elicits structured reasoning, prioritization, risk management, and consequence mapping.

Focus: Problem framing; assumptions; stakeholder analysis; risk/mitigation; feasibility; impact metrics; ethical/equity considerations.

Situational Judgment Questions

What it is: Hypothetical situations with multiple plausible responses. Candidates choose or rank options and explain why.

Why: Surfaces judgment, values, and consequence awareness in policy- or equity-sensitive contexts.

Focus: Policy alignment; fairness/equity; stakeholder impact; risk anticipation (precedent, compliance, reputational).

The admissions interview can take approximately one to one and a half (1 - 1.5) hours to complete. There will be eight (8) video questions and three (3) written questions.

On a date scheduled by the admissions team, you will receive an email with an individualized link to the interview platform called Kira Talent, to access your admissions interview. This link will remain live for five (5) days until you complete your set-up, practice questions and interview. You will be able to complete the practice questions as many times as you wish, during which you will also be able to view your responses to these questions.

However, once you begin the actual interview, you will not have the option to stop, so please ensure you leave yourself ample time to confirm your set up, practice and the completion of the formal interview.

IMPORTANT: Only register with the exact name you provided on your admissions application and your CMCC Applicant Identification Number which was provided to you.

To complete your interview, you will require:

  • A laptop or desktop computer with a working webcam and microphone
  • One and a half hours (1.5) for the interview. Please allow at least an additional 30 minutes for set up and practice, which can be completed before you proceed to the interview.
  • On-line technical support is available to you through Kira Talent throughout the set up and interview process and the system will not allow you to proceed to the interview until your setup is confirmed.

Mobile devices, smartphones, and/or tablets (including iPads) are not supported in Kira currently.

If you have any questions during your assessment, you can always click the “Help” tab for 24/7 applicant support.

To avoid any technical problems while completing your interview assessment, please make sure your browser is one of the following:

  • Microsoft Edge (on Chromium): Version 76 or above
  • Opera: Version 62 or above

Please note that Safari and Brave are not supported currently.

If your browser is outdated, please update it before moving on.

You will be asked one video question for each of the competencies. Upon completion of the verbal questions, you will move directly into the written questions.

Video questions will be broken up into three stages:

  • Question: A video question is presented to you. The text of the question will appear on your screen for your reference. You may also consider making notes for yourself to help guide your response.
  • Preparation: You will be allotted 20 seconds to prepare a response to the question. The camera will be on for you to see how you’re presenting yourself, but recording won't start until the end of preparation time (there will be a three (3) second countdown) after which the camera starts automatically.
  • Response: You will have up to four (4) minutes to respond to the question. Pay attention to the remaining time, because the camera will automatically turn off.

Written questions will be presented on screen, and you will type your response directly into the system. You will be allowed up to ten (10) minutes for your written response to each of the three questions.

When you are ready to begin your interview, you will receive the first video question. There will be a 20 second preparation time, with a countdown of 3, 2, 1. Your webcam will then turn on and you will see yourself on the screen. Please speak clearly and do not rush your answers. As there is a set amount of time for each question, you are not permitted to return to a question if it is not answered.

Once you have answered the question, you will then be prompted to press the space bar to move on to the next question. The next question will not start until you press play.

Please note that there will not be an opportunity for you to skip over a question and revisit it at the end of your interview.

The Kira Talent platform will flag any suspicious activities and/or fraudulent behaviours that relate to academic integrity that are monitored on an applicant’s assessment. This includes, but is not limited to, audio or visual of another person present in the room, unusual typing speed, browser refreshes, plagiarism, and unusual time to complete the assessment. While completing your written response question, Kira will flag your response to the program if it has been copied and pasted directly into the platform. To prevent this, please ensure that you type your written response directly on Kira while completing your interview. Do not refresh the page while completing any portion of this assessment.

Should your assessment be flagged for suspicious activity, your application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If you are confirmed as being in breach of the above, we may terminate your application without notice.
