Funding

Internal opportunities

CMCC operates a competitive process, named the Faculty Research Hours and Internal Research Support Fund, so that faculty can receive salary and operational financial support for conducting research projects.

Benefits of this process include:

  • Increased faculty engagement and training in research
  • Mentorship
  • Funding preliminary data collection for external applications.

Research Support Fund (RSF)

The RSF assists Canadian postsecondary institutions and their affiliated research hospitals and institutes with the expenses associated with managing research that is funded by the Tri-Agencies (i.e., CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC). CMCC receives RSF funding because its faculty are involved in research projects that are supported by Tri-Agency grants. These grants cover costs such as research equipment and research assistant salaries. The RSF funding is applied to indirect costs and is limited to the following five categories:

  • Research facilities
  • Research resources
  • Management and administration of an institution's research enterprise
  • Regulatory requirements and accreditation
  • Intellectual property and Knowledge mobilization

In 2024-25 year, CMCC used 100% of funding through the RSF on the "Management and Administration" category.
