Just less than 10 years ago, most people were not talking about mental illness. Since 2010, Bell Let’s Talk began a new conversation about Canada’s mental health. This national health campaign aims to break down stigma surrounding mental health issues signaling to the community that it’s ok to talk.
Bell has used social media as a way to fundraise for various mental health programs. For every Bell Let’s Talk post on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat and every call and text made by Bell customers, Bell will donate 5 cents to a mental health program. There is also the option to make donations through an online form. Bell's current total donation now exceeds $93,000,000.
This year, as in years past, CMCC will be among more than 200 universities and colleges taking part in the campaign through a number of different activities and events. Featuring our Bell Let’s Talk Selfie wall, participants were encouraged to share their message of support, pose for a pic at the selfie wall and post to social media in support of the national campaign. This event gave our community an additional opportunity in the year to come together and support one another through conversation and education on mental health.
