Dr. Brake-Patten has a BSc, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with clinic honors from CMCC in 1994. She established a full-time practice in Stephenville, NL, later obtaining a Master of Education, Postsecondary. Dr. Brake-Patten has held many leadership roles over the past 28 years. Her work lobbying the government for privileges for chiropractors in NL resulted in signing the Hospital x-ray privilege agreement in 2002. She served on the Newfoundland Labrador Chiropractic Association (NLCA) board as president for four years, moved to the board of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, returned to the NLCA for six years and now sits as its Vice President.
